roBOTIC LAWN AERATOR
Aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. The main reason for aerating is to alleviate soil compaction. Compacted soils have too many solid particles in a certain volume or space, which prevents proper circulation of air, water and nutrients within the soil. Lawn aeration when done properly helps the roots grow deeply and produce a stronger, more vigorous lawn.

I picked up this project because it had the interesting element of combining all my previous learned practices into developing a working prototype. I am able to use my past experience in Arduino coding to create an automated mapping system for the aerator movement. I am also heading the FEA work of the project due to my previous experience of using Ansys Mechanical in my hydrant project, and have taken on the secretary role within the team.
